In 2007, as part of the Providing Cash for Grant project, 117 families selected from the areas of Pottuvil, Thirukovil, Karaitivu, and Kalmunai were provided with business equipment. The initiative was aimed at improving the income of individuals who had lost their jobs due to the tsunami. The support for this project came from Diakonia.
