An art program that showcases the talents of students from all three ethnic backgrounds

With the financial assistance of Gcerf and Helvetas, 12 schools in the Ampara District, including Samanthurai and Ugana, were selected by students between the ages of 15 and 17 for rehabilitation. These schools have been rehabilitated to address the issue of violent extremism.

Additionally, a project conclusion event was held on 31.05.2023 at the Sammanthurai Abdul Maith Mandapam, led by K. Premalathan, the Program Manager of Suwat Company. The event aimed to showcase the talents of students from various ethnic backgrounds through various performances centered around the themes of peace and harmony.

Students shared their experiences and the results achieved through the EMPOWER project through speeches, poetry, and drama performances. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. U. L. Aslam, Assistant Divisional Secretary of Sammanthurai Divisional Secretariat; Mr. V. R. Sakadevaraja, Sammanthurai Zonal Education Director and Crest Journalist; Mr. M. R. M. Janupar, Sammanthurai Zonal Education Director, and representatives from non-governmental organizations working in the Amparai District Secretariat.

The event was also attended by Mr. UL Irwan, the convener, Mrs. Ravichandran, Principal of Navithanveli Annamalai National School, Mr. M. H. M. Cheriw, an English Teacher from Dhingamam Al-Amin School, Mr. Nias, a Teacher from Chennel Sakira Vidyalaya, as well as representatives from various organizations, including the President of Periya Palliwasal and the President of Sammanthurai Migrant Workers Federation. Mrs. Rubina Umma, S. Anandharasa, Ms. Deechikka, Mr. Ranjith, and 130 students also attended and celebrated the event.
