Under the EMPOWER project, which is being implemented by SWOAD with financial support from GCERF and Helvetas, the aim is to enhance students’ resilience against violent extremism. In this endeavor, one school has been selected in each of the following areas: Thirukovil, Sammanthurai, Dhangamam, Navithanveli, and Ugana in Ampara district. Arrangements are underway to establish student learning resource centers in a total of five schools.
Following this plan, the fifth resource center was inaugurated at Sammanthurai Sennel Sakira School within the Sammanthurai Education Zone on 26.05.2023. The event was guided by Suwat Company Project Coordinator K. Premalathan and held under the leadership of School Principal UL Mohammad Smail. The chief guest at the event was Sammanthurai M. R. Mohamad Janupar, Assistant Director of Education, along with school teachers, parents, Swat Institute Field Coordinator Anandarasa, and students who actively participated in the ceremony.
